1. Uninor to acquire high-speed data spectrum
Uninor is on the hunt for high-speed data spectrum, including in the 900 MHz band, through the upcoming auctions and other means such as an acquisition, with Videocon Telecom being "a viable option" for a buy, its new chief executive said.

2. TaxiForSure co-founders may step down after merger with Ola
TaxiForSure co-founders Raghunandhan G and Aprameya Radhakrishna may have to step down after the company is merged with larger rival Ola, which, however, is expected to retain the cab aggregator's top management and other employees, according to three persons with direct knowledge of the developments. 

3. Samsung Galaxy S4 gets a big price cut
Samsung's 2013 flagship smartphone, Galaxy S4, has got another price cut ahead of the expected unveiling of the Galaxy S6 in March. The phone is available online on Amazon.in at Rs 17,999 in both white frost and deep black colour variants. It was previously available at Rs 21,900. 

4. Flipkart may become one of India's most pricey companies
Internet retailer Flipkart has begun preparations for an encore to its mammoth fundraising exercise of last year and is looking to raise $1.7 billion (Rs 10,500 crore) in the coming months, four people familiar with its thinking have said. 

5. Samsung earmarks cash for growth, including M&A
Samsung Electronics aims to use its $56 billion cash pile to fund growth including acquisitions, the tech giant's investor relations chief said, even as more shareholders clamour for bigger dividends. 

6. Japan’s old flip-phones rise while smartphones shrink
            Japanese shipments of traditional flip-phones rose in 2014 for the first time in seven years while smartphone shipments fell, highlighting Japanese consumers' tenacious attachment to the familiar and typically less expensive older models.

7. 2 Nagpur students develop messenger app with ‘secret chat’ facility
            Two city school students have created an Android phone social messenger application which rivals the popular WhatsApp. One special feature of the 'Frendzter' app is that it contains an option for 'secret chat'.

8. Now, app to book AIIMS appointment 
            The All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) is going to launch a mobile application through which patients can book appointments and even check their lab reports. 

9. Kill switch reduces smartphone thefts
            Smartphones thefts have declined dramatically in three major cities in the world after manufacturers began implementing 'kill switches' that allow phones to be locked remotely.

10. Snapdeal for 2-step authentication in high value transactions
E-commerce major Snapdeal has sought a staggered approach for ushering in single-factor authentication regime for small value transactions, starting initially with a cap of Rs 3,000.
